Vote on the 2014 Board Slate

Dear US Math Recovery Council® Members:

The US Math Recovery Council® Annual Membership Meeting is Thursday, May 8, at the 2014 National Conference in Austin, Texas. The Board Member nominees will be introduced, a slate of nominees presented, and voting opened to membership. Membership will vote either yes or no on the entire slate, rather than on individual candidates. Voting will open on Thursday, after candidates are introduced, and close on May 29, 2014. New Board Member Nominee Slate:

Anne N. Catena, Ed.D., Princeton, NJ

Anne is the director of Professional Learning Initiatives, a lecturer, and program associate with the Program in Teacher Preparation at Princeton University. She enjoys advising and supervising students pursuing teaching certification in mathematics and the sciences. Dr. Catena creates and develops the alumni network, designs education programs that support faculty research grants, and conducts research to inform Program improvements. Dr. Catena joined Teacher Prep in 1998. She serves on the New Jersey Board of Education's Advisory Board for the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the Board of Trustees for the Newgrange School and the Board of Learning Forward NJ.

Dr. Catena earned her doctorate in Education Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and a Masters in Business Administration from Rider University.

Dr. Catena was appointed to the US Math Recovery® Board of Directors in January 2013 to complete a vacated seat. She serves on the Finance committee.

Fred Reynolds, Richmondville, NY

Mr. Reynolds is an Early Intervention/Remedial Math Teacher in the Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District. He works with children in grades K-2, focusing on early numeracy based on the principles of Math Recovery. Mr. Reynolds has been working in the Cobleskill-Richmondville School District since 1994. Including his current position he has also taught Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades. He was trained in Add+VantageMR® Courses 1 and 2; as a SNAP facilitator; and as a Math Recovery® Specialist.

Mr. Reynolds received his Masters of Science in Education from The State University of New York College at Oneonta, Bachelors of Science from the College of Saint Rose, and Associates in Applied Science from the State University of New York College at Cobleskill.

Mr. Reynolds was appointed to the US Math Recovery® Board of Directors in January 2013 to complete a vacated seat. He currently serves on the Board Development Committee.

Lauren Simpson, New York, NY

Ms. Simpson is an Exempt Organizations Associate at Patterson Belknap Webb &Tyler LLP. She advises clients on corporate governance and fiduciary duties, tax compliance, political intervention and lobbying, organizational structuring, operational policies and procedures, endowment and restricted gift issues and general corporate and tax matters. Clients include private foundations, educational organizations, museums, universities, and other public charities and 501(c) organizations.

Ms. Simpson has a LL.M in Taxation from NYU School of Law, J.D. from University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. in History from Yale University. She was admitted to the New York Bar.

The Board Development Committee accepts nominations and creates the Slate of Nominees to present to the membership. Our membership can nominate people within and outside the Math Recovery® community to serve on the board.
