2015 Conference Announcement
Dear math educators and US Math Recovery® Members,
Join us in celebrating the 20th anniversary of Math Recovery® in the United States! With Relentless Curiosity, Open the Doors to numeracy education in Raleigh, North Carolina, October 26-29, 2015, at the Hilton North Raleigh/Midtown.
Our pre-conference sessions on October 26 feature Dr. Robert Wright and Dr. Anderson Norton. Together with Dr. Amy Hackenberg, the three are authoring the next book in the Math Recovery® series from SAGE, Developing Fractions Knowledge.
Keynote speakers include Dr. Bob Wright, Ms. Ann Stafford-Dillon, and Ms. Christina Miller, PhD candidate.
The 2015 conference will include a new format to accommodate both depth of theory and hands-on activities that attendees can put into practice immediately. Featured speaker sessions will include presentations from Dr. Wright, Dr. Martland, Dr. Norton, Mr. Kurt Kinsey and Ms. Petey MacCarty. In anticipation of demand, the featured sessions will take place on Tuesday and will be repeated on Wednesday.
Attendees at the conference may share their expertise through session participation, by submitting an accepted speaker proposal, and by submitting an approved activity for the Instructional Activity Fair. The latter is a new event designed to provide a wealth of instructional ideas related to the Learning Framework in Number. More information is provided in the call for proposals.
Other conference highlights include presentation of the 2015 US Math Recovery® Pioneer Award, a social gathering for attendees, annual meeting of membership, and the opportunity to network with some of the finest educators who strive to open doors for students and fellow educators.
We look forward to reading your proposals and seeing you at the conference!
Kind regards,
Carolyn Olijnek and Vicki Breneman
